Adolescents with Developmental Language Disorders (DLD) face challenges in their socio-emotional functioning compared to their typically developing (TD) peers. However, the interplay between language, underlying cognitive abilities (Executive Functioning; EF, and Theory of Mind; ToM) and socio-emotional functioning remains unclear. This study examined the interplay between language, EF, ToM and socio-emotional functioning in adolescents with DLD and their typically developing peers. Participants included 40 adolescents with DLD and 36 age-matched typically developing peers, for a total sample of 76 participants. Adolescents of both groups (DLD/TD) completed two EF (CORSI, BCST) and two ToM tasks (ERT, ToMotion). The Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVT-III-NL) was administered to provide a measure of language ability in both groups. The IKAN questionnaire was completed by the adolescents and each parent to provide measures of socio-emotional functioning, respectively. This collection consist of two raw datasets and two corresponding scripts to replicate the analyses in the paper (in preparation), or to perform your own analyses related to the data obtained from adolescents with and without DLD.
