Reviewing the philosophical literature on time, one is struck by a dichotomy of approaches: on the one hand there are studies on time as a scientific concept and on the other hand there are inquiries into time as a moment of or as the horizon of human experience. Is it possible to overcome this division? Is it possible to develop one concept of time that unites both approaches in order to conceive of them as different appearances of this one concept? This study tries to develop this comprehensive concept of time based on Hegel's notion of reflection. By connecting different forms of reflection to time, the connection is shown between the different shapes of time: the volatile now, the relations 'earlier-than' and 'later-than' (i.e., the time of nature) on the one hand, and the glimpse of time (= Augenblick) and the determinations 'present', 'past', and 'future' (i.e., the time of - a part of - human experience) on the other hand.
