High Energy PhysicsAbstract
Artificial intelligence (AI), the technology of teaching computers to perform tasks based on examples, has been rapidly developing for years. During my dissertation, I used AI for several projects related to dark matter: in high energy physics (such as analyzing particle collisions from the Large Hadron Collider at CERN), astrophysics (for example, analyzing gamma radiation coming from the center of our galaxy) and asteroseismology (analyzing starquakes). Dark matter is a form of matter that has never been observed, but there are strong indications that this type of matter should exist. There have been numerous experiments for decades searching for this form of matter, so far without result. With the techniques from this dissertation, AI-assisted analysis can be accelerated in the hopes of eventually proving the existence of dark matter.
