This dataset contains the anonymized clean data used for analyses in the research described in the Social Development paper "A social identity perspective on conformity to cyber aggression among early adolescents on WhatsApp" by Bleize and colleagues. The paper aimed to examine if and how the social identity perspective on group behavior explained cyber aggression among early adolescents on WhatsApp. The study concerned a preregistered online survey in which participants (early adolescents) answered questions about social identification with group members and conformity to behavior of a WhatsApp group. The answers to these questions are reflected in this dataset. The data were collected from October 2017 to December 2017 at secondary schools in The Netherlands (South) during in-class sessions. A full description of the data collection, processing, and analyses is given in the Methodology file. The codebook describes the variables and items included in the study. The syntax file contains the steps of data analyses that were performed in order to get the results as described in the paper.
