It is argued that in addition to the well known brain plasticity that takes the form of remapping, there is behavioral plasticity that takes the form of rerouting Such rerouting can occur automatically but also strategically. On possible mechanism for strategic rerouting is attentional enhancement of behavioral options, triggered by somatic markers connected to the options. ased on these building blocks a valid theory of behavioral plasticity can be developed in the forseeable future.
