Subject
Europe and its Worlds after 1800; Studying Criticism And Reception Across BordersAbstract
The forging of Javier Marías's reputation as one of Spain's most important novelists and one of Europe's leading writers was a slow and intricate process. This article studies the reception of Marías's first novels in Spain, from Los dominios del lobo (1971) to Todas las almas(1989), his sixth novel, the first one in which he uses his own voice, and the novel that confirmed him as one of Spain's greatest writers.
