The ascendancy of neoliberal competition regulation in the European community / A ascensão da regulação concorrencial de caráter neoliberal na Comunidade Europeia

Abstract

O presente artigo trata do processo de reorientação das políticas de regulação econômica da Comunidade Europeia a partir dos anos 80 em direção a uma concepção neoliberal de economia. A partir de uma perspectiva crítica, os autores analisam como o discurso neoliberal foi progressivamente ganhando espaço e voz entre os principais atores políticos europeus e como ele conseguiu se consolidar como matriz hegemônica de regulação concorrencial no âmbito da Comunidade Europeia.

The present article discusses the process of reorientation of the economic regulation policies of the European Community towards a neoliberal conception of the economy from the 80's onwards. From a critical perspective, the authors analyze how neoliberal discourse has gradually gained space and voice among the main European political actors and how it has managed to consolidate itself as a hegemonic model of competition regulation within the European Community.
