| Abstract: | In this issue, Wilson et al. (2008) demonstrate that there are two functional subsets of hematopoietic stem cells that have distinctive kinetics of cell cycling. They present evidence that cells may transition between the two kinetic states, establishing one subpopulation that is ready to proliferate and another that is a deeply quiescent reserve. |
