Abstract: Flow cytometry was used to separate Xenopus melanotrope cells according to their size. The cells were then submitted to real-time RT-PCR to determine the level of POMC-gene expression. The results show a positive correlation between cell size and gene expression for cells from black-background (but not white-background) adapted animals.
